Fisher-Price toys recalled over lead fears
Fisher-Price has recalled tens of thousands of toys sold in the UK amid concerns over excessive levels of lead in their paint.
The products form part of a global withdrawal of almost 1 million Chinese-made plastic pre-school toys over safety fears.
In all, more than 94,000 units of the problem toys have gone on sale in stores across the UK and Ireland.
The toys include Dora the Explorer, Big Bird, Elmo and SpongeBob SquarePants characters.
Mattel, which owns Fisher-Price, urged parents to stop children using the affected toys immediately but said no injuries have been reported.
The move follows the discovery of problems with a number of character-based products marketed for children as young as two years old.
