Well done Robbie, I can guess how you felt though, Julie would never have been able to do that but many of her more able friends have managed very well, Mums always get a bit fraught over things like that,

Since my daughter met her intended she frequently goes from derbyshire to London on the train herself. I was really nervous about it at first - she wasn't!! I know how you felt fairydust. Pam

thats part of my job to teach/learn our special needs class how to self travel. we have had a few hairy moments and funny times with this present class who leave school in june.
for example
2 of the boys were getting on great by going upstairs in the bus and coming down at the right stop,so we decided time was right for them to try on the bus on there own.
unknown to them i was siting round the corner in the school mini bus waiting for the bus to pass the road end give them a few minutes to get on and bus move away then i would follow on. and at the worst the class nursery nurse was getting on a different later bus and would collect them.
WELL...........bus goes past followed by another and before i got to the road end another[they had been taught to get any bus that passed as they all go to livingston 7 miles from the school] i go round the corner AND LOW and behold the bus shelter had sprouted bookends one of them was proping it up at one side and the other at the other end.i stopped the mini bus to ask why they were there and they said it was the wrong bus ,the bus was late, the other wasnt going to livingston. all the excuses, so i told them to make sure they stuck there hand out to stop the next bus that came along promices made i drove of and hid along the road a bit waiting for the bus to pass, i phoned the nursery nurse to tell her what had happene and she told me to disappear up the road as they were coming round the bend and she had,to ask the driver to stop to pick them up. as they hadnt tried again to stop the bus.
now they can do it no problem
but they still take a lot of stick for it still.
