hi, im new here and kinda getting to grips with things..well actually computers in general as ive just bought one for the fisrt time, yah! anyway, i used to look after my Dad at home, but since he fell and broke his hip and was in hospital for so long, it was deemed unsafe for him to come home after as he is now alot more frail than he was before.
So here i am at home alone while my dads wasting away in a care home where they're all to busy to really have anytime with him and it really sucks. Im a support worker at a day centre myself so i know its hard work, and its not their fault but, i dont really know. i thought things would be easier now, more time to myself, blah blah blah, but you never switch off really do you? and all my friends have to do is worry bout if they've got enough money to go out, or shopping or whateva, or they'll relate to me regarding their grandparents but its not my nan, or my granddad, its my dad and they dont get it...
anyway, enough doom and gloom, i only really wanted to say hi lol!!
if youve taken the time to read this thanks and sorry for going on.

Welcome to you Lia.
You will soon find your way around computers and find that you wonder how you ever did without them!! I know I love being online and I would feel very isolated if I didn't have mine.
I am sorry to hear about your Dad, and a worry for you with him being in the care home. It's never easy to find the right balance of care, worry and you're right that it's never easy to switch off.
People who are not carers often don't understand and I guess we can't really blame them as they can't possibly understand unless they are in the same position as us. It's mostly a bite the tongue or lose friends.
I'm afraid I tell it as it is so no friends for me, except online.
This forum is here for "going on" whenever you want to so no need to apologise.

Thats because you care are obviously a caring person but i hear what you are saying i was in your position once and there did not seem to be the right answer but that was because the answer i wanted was impossible.
You can only do your best and i'm sure you Dad knows that. _________________ Disability & Mobility Aids
