Hi Barb, i came across your post by accident and a very big coincidence I am the owner of www.ableize.com i'm a spinal cord injury wheelchair user, if there is anything you think is missing in the site let me know and i will try to add it, I know the importance of carers and have tried to cover this in various categories, some are here http://www.ableize.com/care-and-care-homes/ I did add a carers support category, its somwhere amoungst the 427 categories

Thanks for that Scipilot, Ableize is a fantastic site with so much info.
I spread it around a bit when Barbsy first posted it so hopefully you would have had a few views from that too.
This forum is quite new so I'm looking forward to seeing it grow and offering a nice place for people to come to.
Thanks for joining and for all your help with letting others know about us.

Where abouts in Essex are you scipilot? We are in Crowthorne, Berkshire. Do you work away from home and which SCI did were you at? Dom was in Stoke Mandeville in 1994/95.

I'm in Harwich and was in (the old) Stoke Mandeville hundreds on years ago in 1976 at the age of 16 was in there for 11 1/2 mnths under Dr Nusaby (probably spelt wrong) I believe he is still there, we parted not on good terms but thats a long story that i shall tell one day when i have more time.
I work at a DDA access auditor and travel all over the UK doing site visits then write up the reports from home, clients include BP, E-ON, Office of the Dep PM and too many others to remember. I was out of work untill around 5 years ago then qualified as a DDA auditor and have never looked back, the work is very knackering though, somtimes doing up to 16hrs a day but i'm taking everything while i can I work in partnership with my wife and that seems to work very well.
www.ableize.com came about after i was struggling on the net to find some disability info so decided to gather it myself and get it all in one place, it takes up a lot of my time but I am also a web optimiser so see it as a sort of hobby, I also run two other web sites.
I think your forum here is a very good idea and one that will get very busy i'm sure, i'd be happy to create you a small banner and locate in a carers section of ableize to help drive more traffic your way, i also have a few other iron's in the fire where i could list you to up the anti as it were, i'd do this in exchange for a text link at the bottom of your sites footer or header. Give it some thought.
I will be popping in from time to time as this forum has a good feel plus i'm also nosey and will later start a discussion thread on why so many carers and nurses end up marrying their ex patients, so watch this space.
Pixie thanks for your kind comments.
