Tonight is Parents' Evening.

Due to my inability to learn to like Thomas' teacher Dom is going it alone.

I should be pleased as I have not had the usual - Mrs Hue - I don't think 10 mins will be enough we will make a longer appointment - so 10 mis should be good.

Also we have had the smiley face system in place and so far in 6 weeks we have had 3 days with a sad face so all in all good.

He has started to read - albeit a few words and he is starting to write - again - painfully slow but he is doing it.

It sounds like Thomas is doing really well so fingers crossed that you get a good report from the teacher.

I don't know when ours is but it must be due soon. I'm not sure what I'm going to say to Sam's teacher after recent events but I guess I will try and keep it civilised.

Dom has returned. Apparently Thomas is doing really well and his cognitive function has greatly improved over the last few months. He is participating in class and has realised that attention seeking does not work.

So all in all good.

On a separate note and nothing to do with Special Needs - the local councillors were outside the school grabbing parents as they visited for their Parent's Evenings.

Dom was nabbed on the way out but some people were nabbed on the way in and felt totally pressurised when all they wanted to do was to go in and talk about their child's/children's progress. Will be mentioning to Head at my meeting this afternoon. I think it is fine to talk on the way out but not as people are going in. Many went up tot he councillor as they thought she was providing directins of where to go to wait/for the meeting.

sounds as if thomas is doing really well at school, well done to him.

i have parents eve at one school (jon does split placement) on tues. they are finding it tough with him moreso in the mainstream one. i would really like to see him in special school full time but we shall see everyones opinion first, although i know best of course being mum.

he is in yr 5 and i should be looking around at secondary schools now, im really dreading it i am seriously wondering if i should be home teaching but then of course seeing its social skills that is themain problem i dont suppost i would be helpiing by just taking him out of it all would i.

Barbs - I hope that your meeting goes OK. Itis such a hard thing to work out but hopefully between you all you will come out with the bestest plan for your man.

I told the head and she told me she had invited them which I think was right but unfortunately she had not realised about the going in bit. She will feed back to them.

Good meeting today anyway which was fab. Our head is very protective of me which is lovely - but also is a control freak.
