Hi Guys.

Pleae pass this on to anyone you know with a Spinal Injury.

Spinal Homecare, a company who provides carers for spinally injured, cannot guarantee to provide respite care despite what their website says. www.spinalhomecare.co.uk

Today, 12 days before my holiday with Thomas, we were called by the company to say that they cannot provide respite care for Dom (my hubby) while I am away with Thomas.

I am so mad. We wrote to them over 4 months ago and they provided care in July.

Apparently from the email sent in reply to my snotty one they cover all their permanent care first and anyone left they can use for respite. That to me is not good enough - leaving me just 12 days notice to find someone else.

Well I have found another person but that is not the point. Their website states they provide permanent and respite care so I am so cross.

I am passing this on to everyone. While I do not want to see them go out of business I will ensure that they amend their website and also give clearer information to anyone who contacts them.

OK rant over

I am also unable to think of the right words to say about how this makes me feel.

I'm just so glad you found someone else so quickly.

I will pass this on to some other people who may need the info.

I hope you and Thomas have a great holiday despite this happening. xx

Thanks

We will and the girl who is coming has been before so Dom knows her. She is a little mouse but he will manage.

We will have a great time - I know as we are off to our house in Cornwall

Becky came during the half term and now she is coming again the week after next as I am off working for 3 days in Manchester.

The cost was cheaper than the other place and we have a much better feeling of "family" rather than "business" when talking to JPAS AKA - Jo who runs this group.

I would love to find a group of people who could do this locally. At £100+ per night - not sure what the staff get paid but it has to be a reasonable amount. Even if I could get someone locally for Dom it would be great. Becky lives in Milton Keynes I think (or Nottingham!) - (never ask a man for girly details).
