I was extremely ill on Wed night and all day yesterday - V&D. I was up half the night and to be honest my body felt that it did not want ot live another minute.

Anyway - life goes on and I had to get Dom up for work and Thomas up and to school. I came back from school and slept fro 9 til 3 when I dragged mny body out of bed and off to collect him.

How do you all cope? I am lucky that Thomas was going to school otherwise I would have been in trouble.

I hope you're feeling a bit more like it now Speeds. I hate being ill and it makes it so much harder to cope with day to day life.

I know there's 2 of us but more often we get ill together so it's tough trying to keep it together and carry on.

I don't know if you have family or friends that can help at all, we don't so it's just a "get on with it" attitude that we have to have.

I think it's much the same for most carers, there's nothing on offer in times of short term illness unless you have close family or friends willing to help out.

I hope you feel back up to "speeds" very soon.

Its hard isn't it? There are two of us, but odds are he'll be at work if i'm ill. Luckily i'm not ill that often. I just have the arthritis, so i take me painkillers and hobble round like the old hag i am!

Yes it is hard and also as I was ill during hte night it is not easy to get an agency carer in for Dominic as - I am sure you are all very aware - that it is virtually impossible to get them in before 6 which is the time required as Dom my hubby works Unfortunately, if you are disabled but working and require a carer it is seen as a contradiction in terms (I know that you can work things out as we have done int he past but I am thinking in an emergency).

My mum is now closer to us but she does not drive - so quandry again.

I have loads of friends and one of my mates on another forum wrote this - I have cross posted her response

"Oh Speeds, I thought you were quiet! You should have sent me an SOS message, although I haven't a clue where Thomas' school is! Hope you're ok now and Dom looked after you when he got home from work! I think your disabled husband does far more than my able-bodied husband!"
BTW we were talking about Why Men Meddle on another topic

I am lucky really but it did get me thinking.

Sorry - I thought it was more polite to put V&D rather than speeling it out
