Just wondered if this would be useful to people who need to install a method of transorting themselves/family members upstairs.

We own two houses and have two different lift systems in place.

In our main house we have a Concord Lift, fully enclosed which fits one wheelchair and a carer in it. It was expensive to istall but has been in for 6 years now. We have had several problems with it but these have mainly related to the automation of the lift such as the automatic doors. We have had some of the automation removed and as such the lift has been fine.

We had the lift installed and regularly serviced by Freeway Lifts who are in Denham, Mddx. They are reasonable for their 24 hour cover, service costs are not too extortionate and they do respond via mobile phone to emergencies and they do prioritise.

Our second lift is a throughfloor lift which is a Terrys Lift. We have this in our holiday home. It has been marvellous and the service teams have been very good and thorough. As we have had no problems with it (it has been in 3 years now) I cannot tell you much other than we call and book a service at the time we are at our holiday home and Terrys has been very accommodating for this.

Sorry for the ramble, I just thought about this after reading a post about the lady who was having adaptations looked at by the council.

I also do welcome recommendations from real users of equipment. We have bought so muich over the years based on adverts and not real use so now we do try to get recommendations and also to go to people's houses to try - which is offered by me to anyone who wants to try before they buy.

I agree it's always better to go by recommendations. The adverts always make things look so good but in reality I'm never sure.

I'm glad you are happy with yours and the service you get from the companies involved sounds good too
