Failing that the CAB usually have them too.

I know our council have done away with our welfare rights adviser.

Also if there's a carers centre near you they should have someone to advise as well.

If there's anything specific please feel free to ask here as many of us may have already been down the same path and may have some tips.

i've been turned down for dla 3 times as although i have uncontrolled epilepsy,they say it's not severe enough.i cant get incapacity as i paid £10 too little tax in the qualifying year.two of my kids have muscle probs,one a heart condition.they can't walk the 1 1/2 miles to school.i pay £28.50 taking them to school by bus as cant get free transport as i'm not 3 miles away.i can't always feed my kids AND get them to school but if i dont take them 2 school,they call truancy.Any ideas?

P.S both kids have been turned down lots for DLA as well,i only get child tax credit and income support

Firstly look for an organisation to help you with form filling and reclaim the DLA.

Secondly, look for an organisation to help you to argue for help with transport - if your kids are statemented, for example, they may be entitled to help. Either way, the important thing is to get someone in to help take the load off you, especially if you feel that nobody is listening.

i get a discount in council tax because i have adapted a room for garry also i get one for being employed as a carer.i work in a special school.
also are down banded because garry is disabled.
works out about £500 a year discount all in.
