Speeds

This made me think

I know that I have a few years before Thomas reaches 16 but a friend of mine has just had to leave her just 16 year old (no special needs) daughter in hospital and:

1. Was not allowed to stay - she is 16
2. Is restricted to adult visiting hours - she is 16
3. Was placed in an adult ward - she is 16

How do parents with "normal" and "not so normal" children manage this. To me this visiting hour lark and for a mother not to be able to stay with her 16 year old very frightened daughter who is in pain is ludicrous.

What do you think? What are your experiences?

That is a diffcult one Speeds as she is not really a child enough to be in the children's ward but not really adult enough to be in the adult ward.

You would think they would have a teen ward as they do in many hospitals now.

Afterall they have special wards for elderly.

That way they could have more flexible visiting times and stopovers by parents.
