saw red and the other end of the phone new that to

garry my severley disabled son had a letter this morning from the new set up department as part of job centres about getting those on benifits back to work.
well i saw red when i seen the letter offering to help garry get of benifits and back to work.
i imediately phoned the number on the letter and asked the friedly young man on the other side if he was GOD,what do  you mean says he well if you can train or mentor garry into work, he would get a medal from the Queen id see to that personally,i explained that garry has the mental age of 2 cant concentrate for any length of time has severe epilepsy, and NEAD, behaverioural problems,is doubly incontinent,
i then went on to state that it is very upsetting for a parent of a severe learning difficulties child adult to recieve this type of letter.as it is something your child will never attain.
i then asked that he be taken of the mailing lists and he said he would do that.

i then explained that not only do i have a son like garry but it is a very major part of my own job with the education department is trying to find places for pupils with learning diffilculties to do work experience in shops and factories etc., so i could see both sides, what is more needed is thatthe goverment trys to get companies to accept that a meaningful full time job can be held down.

off my soap box now

They really have no idea do they!! How upsetting.

I wish they would have a register of some description of people who will not be able to work either because of their own disability or because they are 24/7 carers.

I know our local authority do have a register so I wonder why they cannot work together to save this sort of upset happening so often.

My daughter being in fulltime employment goes to show that many people with disabilities can work so the work you do Myra is so important.
