Annual Review

My sons annual review is this coming Wednesday. The reports so far suggest he's doing really really well.

I'll let you know what happens.

Thanks, will keep you all posted.

He's 15 so this is his transition review - though he should just continue at that school post 16.

Well, that went well
Everyone agreed how well he is doing in all areas and the fact that he is a different lad than he was in September. He has come on incredibly well academically and has matured an aweful lot.

The school are very very pleased with his progress and commented how great he is with the younger pupils.

The school agreed that staying there post 16 is most appropiate.
We also briefly talked about his options for when he reaches 19 and has to leave.

They are going to look into some appropiate work expirience too which could be a good expirience for him.

All in all a very very positive review

sounds like the meeting was very positive which is brilliant what work experience do you think he would be interested in?

Ideally he would love to work at a computer games shop testing games
But also now he wants to work at a theme park testing roller coasters

Realistically, he maybe interested in being a teaching assistant.

We will have to see what school can come up with.

Will keep you posted.

Its scary that our son will be 15 in October. I hope he will stay at the school hes at, he loves it and is doing well and they are pleased with him. I hate to be negative but i doubt he will ever have a job. He will need 24/7 care for the rest of his life. I fear that at 19 he will be handed back to us and me and him will be walking round our town untill i'm 90.

I know it is scary to think they are all getting older and the future always looks so uncertain.

I'm sure he will be able to stay where he is now until 19 and after that there is the college or other colleges that may be suitable for him.

I had these fears for my daughter at 14 when they wanted to put her into a secure unit. We had to fight for that not to happen as I know we would have lost her to the system if we had let it happen.

I know our kids are so different to each other and that their futures will follow different paths but we should have a very big say in which path our kids follow after being given all the options to mull over.

Adult services seem so very different from children's services and personally I have found them much better.

Anyone else have experience/views on adult services V children's services?
