I hope the hassle sorts itself Jan, enjoy the coffee.
The Gods smiled on us on Sunday, sunny for the garden open day, the rain held of till late evening, we had nearly a hundred visitors and raised nearly five hundred pounds for charity.
Pam one of the first visitors was from Derby, a long way from home,

Sounds like a day full of stress for you Jan, I hope all goes well on the day though.

Not a good start to the day. The kettle wouldn't work so boil in the pan cuppa this morning. Never tastes the same does it.

GooD MorningI think this morning that we should think of the tragedy of the Mum of the handicapped boy called Jamie. She was found dead yesterday and she must have been so in a state to do that. As yet Jamie is still missing. What a tragedy for the family. My prayers are with them for sure.
Wet and today is the launch and so at least it will be done with soon. Just tried about three outfits on that I thought of wearing and all are pulling on me. I am sick tired and fed up of this weight. Putting an old faithful outfit on but ashamed of myself and must do something about it now.
Have a nice day everyone and Pixie I hope that your luck gets better as the day goes on.

I have been thinking about her and Jamie.
I really hope they find him safe and well and I hate to be negative but I am not feeling very positive about this.
As for losing weight, I am supposed to be trying to diet too but not getting very far at the moment. I'm hoping with the nicer weather and more salads and fruit that I will make some progress.
Good luck to you and hubby for the launch, the sun is coming out so I hope that is a good sign.

Morning all. Off to meet Sarah for our weekly coffee and natter (moan and puting the world right)
My little rant is:
JMVHO - when the mum and her (disabled) son went missing - everyone jumped on the carers can't cope bandwagon. It looks like there was foul play.
Now I don't know what I want to say but while I am very sad taht they have died - I am (pleased - wrong word I know) that it was foul play and not suicide.
I totally know that carers are driven to do some very sad things but most of us aren't. I wish we could persuade government etc to be fair to us.
Stopping writing as words are failing me and I am gettingmyself and my feelings in knots.

Good MorningHi All,
Very strange that two people have been arrested in connection with Jamie's death. Likewise I hope Mum and Son are now at rest. For the rest of the family it must be a horrible time just now. What a tragedy.
This weather is strange it was really sunny yesterday afternoon and now this morning it is really miserable again. Never mind it is stay in and watch television type of day. When it is sunny you feel that you should be out in the garden weeding or something so this weather has advantages. ha ha.
Thanks for your concern friends and the car launch went well. Few hiccups that the normal punters did not hear about. Got tv local coverage and top motoring journalists came and so that is that. Until the next time as they say.
Hope you all have a good day and no major problems for anyone.

Good MorningI agree wilth what you are saying Speeds. People often assume wrongly that carers do the job under sufferance. Most LOVE the person or people that they are caring for and would die for them if they had to. The job is one of the hardest in the world but without love in this world it would be an even more horrible place than it is at times.
Carers would not be stressed as much as they are if the Government put more resources into care packages and less into stupid schemes that they waste money on.
Hope the disabled tag is not wrongly assumed to be the reason this tragedy happened.
|
Annie
|
Fine now after lots of rain.
Speeds I guess we all know how you feel, when my daughter died somebody described her as a huge burden but as I pointed out, most of us look after our disabled loved ones because we love them and we do it willingly. When we do something from choice it can be a burden in the practical and sometimes emotional sense but I doubt most of us either see it or feel that way about it. I do know that I gained far more from my daughter than I ever gave back.
Actually Speeds I would say that I had more hassle from the so called experts and outsiders than I ever had from my daughter. I bet there are lots of people her that would agree with that. A good dose of common sense wouldn't come amiss from the people who deal with care packages and support.
We dont yet know the full story behind this tragedy but lets hope the disabled aspect doen't take to much prominence over a criminal act,
Annie

Most carers I know - parents or otherwise - say that the person they care for is far less hassle than the authorities they have to deal with.

Good MorningHELLO ALL,
Weekend again and the forecast is good but not so sure yet here.
My friend has a Downs daughter and she is nine years old. Kathleen has a French Mum and English Dad and she speaks both languages and swops from one to the other with no problems. They have lived in the Middle and Far East and India and are now back in Surrey. Kathleen has coped quite well with all the moves. I think that is wonderful but it is in the most part because her Mum Denise has loved and helped her to improve herself since the day that she was born. I am sure that love has a lot to do with how these children get on in life.
My eldest grandson is the same age and has french lessons at school and he struggles to say a few sentences and is considered a bright lad!!!!!!!!!
My little point for the weekend.
Speeds I hope your friend had some better news on her health at the Consultation.
Have a lovely weekend all of you.

Good AfternoonHi All,

Jan, many prayers coming your way for Daniel and all the family.
I did see the news about it and hoped the young man would be OK.
It makes no sense to me all this violence and younsters setting upon each other.

Good AfternoonThanks Pixie. I know that Daniel and his brother James are no angels but underneath are good kids. Elaine his Gran works on the intensive care unit as a domestic and it will be horrid for her tomorrow to work on the ward. She has been in to visit and the staff had to lead her out since she was distraught when she saw Daniel.
Elaine is not good with her nerves to start off with. She is such a kind person and accepted our daughter Vicky into their family when she married Barry her son and knowing Vicky had health problems did not faze her one bit.
Young ones just seem to accept this awful behavour these days as the norm.

GOOD MORNINGThanks again Pixie and all for your kind thoughts.
It is our daughter Vicky's birthday today she is 34 and she says that her best present would be for Daniel to be able to wish her a "happy birthday." He has always been very nice to Vicky and supportive of her.
Yesterday he was still heavily sedated and was having some trouble with breathing but he is said to be stable and improving slightly.
You all do your best to have a good day. Thanks friends.

GOOD MORNINGHi All,
The day is sunny and brighter here today and so hope everyone feels a little brighter when the weather seems better. I know that I do.
No change in Daniel but he is being kept heavily sedated for four or five days to try to allow his body to recover a little from the horrendous kicking and beating that they gave him. Still in intensive care and still critical as yet. Elaine hlis Gran is not allowed to work whilst he is in but she is in such a state that she cannot even think straight just now.
You all enjoy every moment because we never know what is around the corner.
Jan

Hi everyone.
Jan - sorry to hear that Daniel has not shown signs of improvement. The sedation is good because it really does allow the body to recover. If it is any consolation my friends nephew was knocked over and had horrific injuries and he is now back at home. He was sedated for a couple of weeks before the doctors felt that he would cope with coming round.
Sad news here too - Dom's dad is in hospital with a suspected stroke. Dom spoke to him and his partner yesterday briefly. They are in New York or may be New Jersey hospital - he lives out there. Dom said his dad's speech was very clurred and did not sound like his dad.
My agility lesson was cancelled this morning so I have just done a megga walk with the dogs inthe woods.
Hope everyone has a lovely day despite the showers

GOOD MORNINGHi Speeds,
Hope that Dom's Dad is soon on the road to recovery from his stroke. I am sure that in the USA they have excellent care as long as their health insurance is in place. Thinking of you.

Try to keep smiling folks.

Hello all.
I have been a little busy just lately so not been around much.
So sorry to hear of first Jan's sad news then speeds I do hope all turns out well for you all. Hugs and xxx.
I have some bad news too although not as serious as Jan and speeds.
My daughter and her fiancee have split up 2 weeks ago and she is in 'bits'.
It came as such a shock to both families.
We have booked a little break in York for the end of May and tomorrow Nad is to go and have her hair re-styled and streaked - only small things but they are a welcome distraction for her at the moment.
Apart from that it seems to be warming up outside folks - so lets hope it stays with us. Pam

Sorry to hear Daniel is still so ill also about Doms Dad and Nad and her boyfriend, you never know what is going to happen, thinking about all of them and wishing them all well.

Sorry to hear such bad news all round today.
I hope Daniel and Doms Dad make some improvements soon and that Nad will cope with splitting up with her fiancee.

I am thinking of you all today and I will say some prayers for things to improve for everyone. xx

Good morning all.
It's wet again today. I hope the sun is shinning for someone today.
Jan the update I read says Daniel is now stable but still critical. I hope the family are managing to cope with such a lot of worry.
Speeds, I hope Dom's Dad is doing OK. It can be a long road but it sounds like he had the same type as my mother in law and she is doing really well now.
I hope everyone's day is a manageable one. xx

GOOD MORNINGWell I hope everyone has a decent day today and some brighter news for us all.
Sorry Pam to hear of your daughter splitting with her boyfriend but if they are right for each other they make get back together and if not then better to find out now than later in the relationship. Still my thoughts are with you and her as you come to terms with the situation.
Hope Dom's Dad is making a slow but sure recovery and Dom is coping with the worry and being so far away as well.
Our Vicky just dropped her sons off for me to take them to school and she says that the hospital may try to slowly waken Daniel up today.
So let us hope that he begins his slow start to recovery as each day passes.
Thank goodness we have each other to chat to and can support each other. That alone is worth realising that there is a lot of good still in this troubled world we live in.

Good afternoon all. Not a bad day here.
I have had my first stint in the gym today. Had my induction on tuesday I think it was sooooooo trotted off to make a start. It must be 9 yrs since I last went - had to stop because of a leg injury - nothing to do with the gym. It was the silliest thing ever really. I was just sat on the sofa with my legs under me and when i got up my right leg hurt a little. It got so bad I was in tears and needed a car to take me to the doctors which is only 10 mins walk away. To cut a long story short after xrays I ended up have acupuncture. It did the trick to a certain extent but i still have probs occassionally. Anyway I did an hr today only tread mill, bike, and a couple of leg/arm machines. So nice and gentle folks. Gooing again tomorrow hopefully. Pam

Hope everyone is having a good day. Chilly here but sunny just now.
Watched the programme on Madeliene last evening and I felt so sorry for Gerry and Kate. I wish they could have some sort of news. I do not feel that they had anything to do with the event at all but my daughter is not convinced of that and so we agree to differ.

GOOD MORNINGHi All,
Pam hope you are feeling not too sore and off you go to the gym again. I feel tired because I have pernicious anaemia and so I might not bother today. (Another excuse I suppose)
The hospital tried to wake Daniel yesterday but our Vicky said that he was so agitated that they had to put him back into the induced coma. She told me that Barry her husband could see the indentation in his head where the brick had hit him so hard. Some gang warfare so the police are saying but what a mess that our youngsters are almost killing each other. I am afraid for our grandchildren when they reach the teens.
Hope Dom's Dad is a little better.
Have a good day and a good bank holiday weekend as well.

Good evening all from me here at home
Now I have some time alone
To read the posts and reply to threads
Without a little man bugging my head
I'm sorry but we've had lots of sun
Hogged it South, we took and run
But now at twenty past eight o'clock
It seems that we have had our lot
For now a shower reigns supreme
Although slightly pathetic if you know what I mean
Dampened the paths and wet the lawn
So I bet the veggie will need water in the morn
Today Thomas had gymnastics, his second one
He really does find it so much fun
I must tell Marion to get Sophie here
And Rory too, for its quite clear
That we have a very special coach
Who locally someone did poach
who is very keen on special needs
And wants to have more of them in her team
£6 a session, for a good hour's fun
And some of it virtually one 2 one
Then home for lunch and out for a shop
That really was all we got
Tomorrow some chores and to find a new bed
Off to Reading I think we'll head
And then to our May Fair for the afternoon
Fun and games and I'm sure balloons
Dom's dad is now off in rehab
It seems his stroke was not too bad
And Daniel, how is he getting on
Do not be dismayed if he's sleeping this long
Our bodies need lots of time to recover
And rest and sleep are the best medicine to offer
But my thoughts are there for you who wait
Dreading and wondering of his fate
Make sure you rest and look after yourselves
When he is round, that is when he'll need help

Good AfternoonHi All,
I am impressed with your poems Speeds.
We went to Llandudno on Monday and it was a lovely day and all the Victorian costumes looked very nice. Don't think I would have liked to be the laundry lady though in those days with all the intricate lace blouses and long dresses.
Today (Tuesday) I have had our Emily who is 5 and she has a chest infection. She had it last week and our Michelle took her to the Doctors and the Doc said that it would heal without antibiotics. Well it did get a bit better by weekend but yesterday she was as bad again and today she was not well enough to go to school. Poor thing she looks so weary. I have been reading stories all day and feel worn out from all the talking!!!!!!
Have a nice evening all.

I remember being on holiday in about 1985 at Llandudno. One day we went out along the pier only to find a sign saying "Blackpool Pier" and lots of people in late Victorian/Edwardian costume. Apparently the Beeb were filming for a period drama. Never did see it, but got some interesting photos!

Thanks Pixie for the good wishes and I will ask our Vicky tomorrow when we go out for a coffee how he really is now. Two days ago he was still poorly and was still on oxygen and not walking but they had sat him out at the side of the bed for an hour. Then Vicky sent a text last night to say the he had improved quite a lot yesterday. So any progress is good news. Thanks for everyones thoughts and prayers.
Beautiful day today here in Southport and a lovely sea breeze as well. Long may it last.

Hello All
No poem today I am afraid. Have an appiontment at Drs at 9.40 am as I have found another little lump in my boob and I have been getting more and more pain over the last few days. Today my whole left arm is numb. I had an op last year and a small pimple and a duct was removed. Not sure if this year I have not got a discharge as there is no where for it to come out
Sorry - bit graphic for the morning but sharing does help.
Will tell you the outcome later although I am pretty sure I will be referred to specialist. Will not do NHS route this time though - although service is very good they did nto listen and I had heaps of tests over 6 months that I did not need and in the end it was and I was operated for the exact thing I told them it was. That was after 3 consultants and several U/S and mamograms etc.

I had a lump removed many years ago now. Thankfully it was just a cyst but such a worry at the time.
Dull but warm here today but hoping to see some sun later.

Hi All
Thanks for your good wishes.
I saw the doctor and I will have my referral again.
At least this time I knw to put my foot down when they do not find anything on mamogram.
Will keep you posted.
Am off for a sleep in a mo - I feel exhausted today for some reason.

Good AfternoonSpeeds you have a good rest and I do hope that the tests do not prove anything untoward for you. In my thoughts and prayers and also the family as you tread this route again.
Good news from us is that Daniel has made wonderful progress over the last three days and today they have allowed him to go home. Yes he has taken the wheelchair since he can only walk small steps and just a few at once but he is home. Still very confused and forgetful but his family will rally around him now to pull him on. Not eating much since he says it hurts to eat when it gets into his stomach but he is trying soups and smoothies. Two weeks from deaths door to this is fantastic progress. Thanks God and all who prayed and thought of him.

Wonderful news about Daniel. I hope he feels a little more comfortable now he's home and continues with his fantastic recovery.
Speeds I hope you feel better after your sleep. I think the heat makes us all feel tireder than usual but with stress added it makes it worse. xx

Take care Pam and love to you and your family and hope your Dad is soon on the mend again. Look after yourself as well remember.
All have a good day - I am off to aqua aerobics again today. Hope the pool water is warm since when the weather hots up they keep the pool cooler and I like it warm which is not perhaps the healthiest way but I am a wimp.
Love to all,
Jan

Good afternoon all. Thank you for your kind wishes. I collected my dad out of hospital this afternoon and took him home. He needs to return for a couple of days in about a months time. For now though he is just pleased to be home. Pam

Good AfternoonHi all,
What a fantastic day we have had the weather has been lovely and I managed to get the curtains down, washed, ironed and put back.
Went for lunch with two ladies from another forum and we met for the first time and it was so nice to meet and chat together at last.
Glad to hear that your Dad is home Pam that is good news.
Hope Speeds is feeling OK and especially keeping her spirits up.
Pixies enjoy the weather whilst we have it.

Good AfternoonHi All,
Hope you all have a lovely day and enjoy the good weather whilst it lasts.
Thinking of you all.
My Grandson Luke is 11 today and so going to their house to see him at tea time. The years seem to be flying by and only looks like yesterday that we were waiting for news of him being born. It is my husband's birthday tomorrow and he wanted the baby born on his birthday but Luke was born just before midnight and so they have different birthdays.
Love from Jan

Almost the weekend now and a holiday for the children.

Hello everybody from little ole me
I think I've got an attack of the threes
Tuesday Dom was ill with Diarrhoea
So agility was cancelled while poo I did clear
The yesterday to add to that
A speeding fine did drop on the mat
OK so I was wrong doing thirty five
But I was doing voluntary work, that's why I did drive
Then today its rained so the day is a drear
Then to add to it all the call I did fear
The ground is too slippy, its rainig dogs and cats
So agility is cancelled and that is that.
