Good Day

A quick hello at any time of day or night on this thread.

Trying to save Speeds from running around. Good idea Speeds, your wish is my command.

pixie

Good day from me, hope you're all well.

Nothing much planned today and looking forward to a nice quiet Friday.

I hope you all have a good day and a good weekend. xx
Speeds

Good day from me, I've just had tea
A curry and it was Yummie
Hope that you are fine and dandy
Its the weekend now and that's quite handy.
Speeds

Good day to all, the sun is out
But I hear that snow is round about
I hope you mummies had a good day
And were spoilt rotten along the way

For me I cooked for one and all
Mum and MIL for dinner did call
barbsy

good morning to you all.

hoping everyone is well and that there was something special for you all on mothers day. just having my two is special enough.

barbsx
pixie

Afternoon all.

I hope you all had a good Mothers Day and that it wasn't too stressful.

It's gone cold again here but the sun is shinning at the moment. Makes a change from the hail we had earler this morning!!

Have a good Monday everyone. xx
pixie

Good morning to you all.

It's lovely here today with lots of sunshine.

Makes me want to start Spring cleaning.......... but maybe I'll leave it for another day.

I hope you all have a good day.
Speeds

Good day to all, the weather's weird
Sun, snow and frost to chill our ears
The snow - well a few flakes, that's all we had
So really it was not all that bad

This morning I had a little surprise
Our school invited all us guys
To come and watch our special ones
With a coffee from 9 and then til 10.30 see the fun

Of what they get up to day by day
As they sit and work with their LSA
It was good to meet all the LSA staff
And other parents with special ones, we had a laugh

But now I'm back to do my work
Which I should no longer from it shirk
I'm off to Hitchin Thursday this week
Then next week I'm off to Leeds

Then Diss for a day
Up Norfolk way
And finally Slough
I'll manage some how.

So have a great day everyone
What ever the weather I hope you have fun
barbsy

good morning to you all, goodness speeds you clearly live up to your name, always speeding around.

hoping everyone is well, what a lovely brisk day it is out there.

barbsx
Speeds

Hello everyone

Getting AGM ready for PTA
Getting ready for work - have ot book some flights

Hope you all have a great day - it is beautifully sunny here - but darn cold!
pixie

Good morning from me.

We had the sun yesterday and today it's all cloudy and cold.

Good luck with all the work related things you have planned Speeds.

Taking it easy here today trying to fight off this infection with the help of antibiotics from the doc. Hope to feel better by the weekend.

I hope everyone is well and getting some time to relax.

Have a good day. xx
Speeds

Get Well Soon Pixie
barbsy

barbsx
pixie

Thanks Speeds and Barbsy, I hope so too. xx
pixie

Good morning to you all.

It's so bright and sunny here today, it looks like spring is on the way with all the daffs out.

I'm feeling a lot better today, thank goodness, but my daughter is now home from work very poorly. She usully bounces back quickly so fingers crossed she will be OK after the weekend.

I hope you all have a good day. xx
Speeds

Good day all its manic here
I've got a poorly Thomas at home
He went to school but as I feared
The school did give me a phone

And to add to it all I also have
A doggy here to stay
Little Tia (another weim)
Has come to play today

Its sunny now
So in a while
We'll go off for a walk
And lose some energy
from Tia dog
If she finds something to stalk

Have a fun day and weekend everyone - sorry to hear your daughter is poorly Pixie and I hope you are feeling much better
pixie

I hope you enjoyed your walk in the sunshine. It has been lovely here today too.

I'm feeling much better today, which is just as well as I've been up and down 2 flights of stairs all day taking water and meds to my daughter.

I hope everyone has had a good day and has a good weekend.
pixie

What a lovely day it is out there today.

But batten down the hatches because there's a storm coming. I hope everyone stays safe and doesn't have any damage from the winds.

I'm feeling much better now, just lots to catch up on.

My daughter has perked up a bit too so here's hoping she will be back to her usual self very soon.

Have a good Sunday everyone.
Speeds

Night all

Hope you have had a good day.  I have spent whole day cleaning.

Am off to Leeds tomorrow night for my very busy week.

May not be able to post much so if I do not manage - stay safe, warm and snuggled.

pixie

Night night Speeds, sleep well. I hope Leeds goes well.

Have a good week everyone.
pixie

Good morning everyone.

I hope you all stayed safe last night and had no damage.

It's quiet now but it's getting bad again later so stay safe and warm.

Not a good start to the week but I hope you all have a good day.
barbsy

just lookiing into to say hello to you all and hoping everyone is well. best place is probably indoors today.

barbs
pixie

Hello to everyone.

It's getting rather windy out there. I hope everyone is managing in this weather.

Fingers crossed we don't have any damage tonight.

It's been a busy day today with a friend around for a chat this morning and the weekly shop this afternoon.
A little tantrum from our young man didn't help but he's settled now, thank goodness.

Have a good evening all. xx
pixie

Hello and good morning.

I hope you're all safe and well in this storm. I think it's mostly up north this time.

No damage here but the days not over yet. Fingers crossed.

Have a good day if you can. xx
barbsy

quicky good morning from me on this chilly blustery day.

i do apologise if i dont pop and say hello every day.

pam

Afternoon all just got home from my little job.  Got wet and soggy this morning    Tired - been up since 6 -15 so will have to be the chippy tonight for tea.   Pam
fairydust

Was worried about Robbie today with all this wind as he had to travel to portsmouth with his college to find out about universities....anyway he is home nice and safe and is having a rest out of his wheelchair at the moment!
pixie

Glad Robbie was OK with the rotten weather. I bet he was worn out after such a busy day.

I hope you don't get wet and soggy this morning Pam. I wish you hadn't mentioned chippy teas, I'm on a diet and really miss my chips.

Well it doesn't look too bad so far here today. Got to go out later and choose some wallpaper for the hall.

I hope you all have good days.
Speeds

Good day everyone, old and new
Pixie, Barbs, Fairdust, Pam, Rabid, Angel, Myra to name a few
Got home last night from a windy Leeds
Having done my work, performed my deed

Now packing again off for another jaunt
Off up to Diss, a familiar haunt
Although I've never seen this lot
I'm looking forward to the stop

Then back home again tomorrow night
Then on Saturday we'll have a fight
Thomas wants to go and watch football
Which is OK by me, its rather cool

But also swimming will be done
From one o'clock to half past one
Then after that he must relax and rest
For the next and most hardest test

As we are off to see the King and I
Tickets bought by a friend of mine
As her little boy, same age as Tom
Has a part in it so we're going along

To support these children in their play
While keeping Thomas awake along the way
For the performance starts at half past seven
Which is the time Thomas is dreaming in seventh heaven
pam

Well I am supposed to be on a diet as well   Fully intended to have fish cake and mushy peas - mmmmmmmmm well we didn't get the fish cakes with our order - so ended up having a chip butty and mushy peas (nicked some of hubbies)
Fought my way around Tesco's this morning- remind me never to shop there again on a Thursday morning. Bought a healthy chicken wrap for hubby and I at lunch time - seeeeeeee I am trying !!   Pam
pixie

A good morning from me.

It's so sunny outside, just in time for the weekend.

Speeds you are so busy as usual, don't wear yourself out.

Good luck with the diet Pam. I may give up on mine because I'm giving up smoking on Monday. I think I can only manage one thing at a time.

I hope you all have a good day and a great weekend. xx
pam

Good morning all. It's a lovely day today. Done mum's shopping so having a cuppa whilst doing e-mails.
Having roast chicken today with the trimmings as will be too busy for Sunday lunch cooking this week.
Diet?? Well i'm trying hard - need to get out walking to help me but this cold windy weather affects my asthma and all I do is cough - soooooo looking forward to a warm spring.
My daughter has used the Nicorett chewing gum to help herstop smoking. I dont smoke myself but can understand how hard it can be.
Easter next weekend folks - anyone going away or doing anything special? Pam
barbsy

good morning to you all.

oh dear, did someone mention diets....that something i desparately need, i really should get myself in gear.

hoping everyone is well, whether on a diet or not!

Think I will have a little walk round the village when I've finished on here.  Pam
fairydust

Good evening everyone.....me and hubby had a busy day today...we walked our two boxer dogs Jazz 10 and Lola 2 for a muddy walk of 2 hours with me falling in a puddle....lol

Robbie gave up smoking 5 weeks ago im so glad as he has really has bad circulation in his legs and was told by his consultant that he could loose them if he didnt give up and I think this frightened him....so he took himself to one of these clinics and they gave him patches and this puffer thingy anyway he got a cirtificate today and a piggy bank to save his money lol.

And did anyone mention diets!!!!! well I put on 3 stone last year we had two deaths in the family and I just looked to food....but in December I went to slimming world and I have lost 2 stone 1lb so am feeling great about this.

Jennie
pixie

Good evening everyone.

It's been a busy day here but I don't really seem to have done much at all.

I hope you all have a good Easter break with your families and find time to relax a little.

Pam we are useing the inhalator but hubby wil probably use anything he can find.

So from Monday we will be non-smokers.

Slimming World I tried them and couldn't seem to lose any weight but there were plenty there who were it's really good for the ones who it works for. Keep up the good work.
Well done to hubby too - are you both getting a treat from his piggy bank?     Pam

Whats an inhalator ? and how does it work?
  Pam
fairydust

Sorry pam, Robbie is my 17 year old son who has been smoking for about a year and a half!!! So im really pleased...hubby and me gave up around 19 years ago...Jennie
pam

Well I've been up and down the village twice today - takes about 20mins round trip. It's turned pretty mild and the wind has dropped at last,
Taking the kids to the cinema tomorrow but they have yet to decide what they want to see??
Have a good weekend folks.
Night night.  Pam x
pixie

An inhalator is just a ciggy looking thing with a nicotine pellet in it.

It is basically nicotine replacement therapy but in the form of a cig so you can do something with your hands as well as get a hit of the bad stuff.

So when you feel the need you get it out and puff.

That sounds a bit rude.

pam

That sounds a bit rude.
Sure does!!
but I must admit I haven't heard of that - anything which helps is good though isn't it.
Keep up the good work.  Pam
pam

Ahhhhhhh right I see! Sorry - maybe I didn't read your post correctly.
How hard it must be though for a 17yr old to quit - all that peer pressure.
I wish him all the best in this let us know how he gets on.  Pam x
pixie

Thanks Pam. Very much looking forward to being smoke free and a little richer too.
pam

Pixie - any ideas what ypu are going to do with your cash saved? Have you a nice treat in mind?   Pam
pixie

Not really a treat as such but we do want to get the house decorated and new buy some new furniture.

The real bonus will be better health though and that's mainly what we are aiming for.

Wish us luck, we are going to need it I think.

Decorating!! We went through the whole house last year except for my daughters bedroom (we ran out of time) that is on the cards for spring this yr. It's hard work isn't it - and evry where is upside down.Good luck with that and your intentions to quit smoking. Let us know how you get on. You should certainly be able to save for some new furniture as well as being super duper healthy!! Put me to shame you will.     Pam
pixie

Thanks for your support Pam.

We've been here almost 16 years now and this will be the first "real" decorating we have done. Caring for the children always meant we couldn't get anything done. You know the lack of sleep, the meetings, hospital appointments etc. so really looking forward to getting it done at last.

I may even post some photos once the next lot is done. It's the hall stairs and landing, and we have a loft conversion, so it may be a few weeks yet.
Would you believe we need 34 rolls of wallpaper!!!!
pam

Gosh Pixie - thats an awful lot of papering to do who does it at yours?
We had a decorator to paper 2 rooms last yr as I cant do it anymore and hubby never has been able to.
Got a different shade in 1 roll in the lounge - so 2 strips had to come back off and then the shop hadnt got any of our batch number in!! We were cheesed off i can tell you - took several weeks to get it finished. I'm pleased the rest of the house was just painting/varnishing/emulsioning. Oh - I did strip the bathrrom radiator right down and guess what it was black!! instead of the normal grey?? underneath anyway it painted up lovely.
Well its my shower time so will say goodnight all. I will spk to you tomorrow if your around.    Pam
pam

morning everyone - are you all having a lazy morning in bed? It's very quiet on here.
We have rain this morning    hoping it dries up as i feel like a little walkies. Pam
pixie

Good morning to you all.

It's nice here today but no lazy lie ins for us, too much to do today.

I hope you get your walkies Pam if the weather cheers up a bit.

Hubby is doing the wallpapering, he's not looking forward to it one bit. Neither am I, and I'll stay well out of his way I think.

He's bound to be a little more stressed with packing in the cigs as well.

I hope everyone has a lovely day.
barbsy

good morning. i think you will like this, its a poem written by a lady called melissa williams about her three year old son.

How many hands have I got? Just two,
one for the basket and one for you,
I pick up some butter, and where do you go?
A panicked, "where are you?" I really don't know.
"Put down those biscuits, come here hold my hand.
The "tut tut" of shoppers who don't understand.
Here comes the tantrum, throw yourself on the floor.
A great line of trolleys leads back to the door.
Eventually, at the checkout, a great display of sweets,
that every child waiting is drooling to eat.
"Please mum, please", I hear you cry.
Followed by a "no", and the half expected "why"?
If he doesn't stop this wingeing, I swear I'll ring his neck.
The five customers in front of me all pay by cheque.
Eventually we get there and the shopping goes through,
you try to help the way three year olds do.
The man behind moans while I frantically pack faster.
In goes the beans, the toilet rolls and pasta.
"Hang on I don't remember buying that,"
a tin of whiskers when we haven't a cat!
Fumbling with handbag, carriers and purse,
the situation couldn't get worse.
With a sigh of relief we reach the air outside,
On a pink spotted cow you scream for a ride.
There goes the twenty pence into the slot,
"one ride only" I say, "that's your lot".
Crisps clutched in your hand, we finally make it home.
But next time I swear, "I'll go shopping alone"!
pam

Hope the decorating goes well Pixie and stress free of course.    Pam
pam

Barbsy thanks for sharing that its lovely and very true.   Pam
fairydust

Evening great poem gave me a chuckle.....Not to worry Pam about getting my hubby mixed up....lol
pixie

Great poem Barbsy and tells it how it is.

No decorating today, just preparing for giving up tomorrow.

Hubby has a few things planned too such as cleaning the car etc. We need to keep occupied and try to keep our minds off it.

We will do it though.

Hope you all have a peaceful evening.
pam

Evening folks - well nearly morning isnt it??
Make a note of this date cos I'm generally tucked up and fast asleep by now - I dont generally come on line at this time!!
Anyway - hope you have all enjoyed your weekend - Ive had a working one mainly - but still enjoyed it!
I will say good night and - if I dont get off here soon will be saying good morning - hey thats a thought  I will be first on the forum tomorrow!!

pam

Good morning all.
Pixie - good luck with the no smoking!!
Speeds hope are at least feeling a little better today.
I'm playing taxi this morning. Daughter goes to cookery classes it's all to help with what she will need in equipment when she's married and to refresh on basics as she hasn't done any cooking since she was 17 (she's 33 this yr) as she was so ill for a long time. She only has one good hand/arm so will need to shop around and things are soooooooo expensive. I only have 1 hr at home then have to go back and collect her so just having a cuppa and hoping the trafic is better than when i took her.Pam
Speeds

Hi Pam

Have you been to your local Spinal Injury unit OT department to see what they have?  Dom can only use 1 hand and we have adapted some things just with help from the OT crew.  BTW I can really recommend the Pamper Chef non slip chopping boards - they are fab.  A little more expensive than some of the high street stuff but well worth the money for someone who can only use one hand (and for me who can use two but likes the non slip features).  If you need to source one then please let me know.

Good luck though.  Scipilot may also be able to advise.
pam

Speeds thanks for that you sound as if I am going be able to pick your brains. Daughter has tried a magi mixer at cookery class - but they have found she can't change the blades as it needs 2 hands. Not tried OT's yet but will certainly get intouch and pick their brains as well. Will also check out the pamper chef. - Thanks  Pam
fairydust

Good idea to go to the OT pam they have lots of gadgets and sometimes can even get things made.

Good luck with the no smoking guys......so hard.....just keep those hands busy.
pam

Fairydust we had home made veg soup with wholemeal rolls which Nad made this morning in cookery class - I'm so stuffed I dont want any tea.  Very moorish it was.   Pam
Speeds

Morning all

sun is out
not a cloud
is round about
but for how long
I hear you say
Before begins
Another rainy day?

Enjoy the day
whatever it brings
the smile of your kids
the small bird that sings

And while I fume at me
about another wet bed
that's 4 in a row
After he'd been so clean

But its only wet sheets
I still have my son
smiling at me
Even at what he has done

So how can I be mad
At one who agrees
That wrapped around his finger
Am I like Ivy round a tree
barbsy

goodmorning to you all, bit nippy here today.still got jon home unwell, may be ok to go back tomorrow hopefully. your poetry is so clever, ive never had a dry bed with jon yet, still hopeful though the pullups that are provided are totally useless and im always complaining to them.

hope you have a managable day, barbsx
pam

Good afternoon all. Not been back long from taking Nad to the maxiofacial dept in the hospital. Poor lass has had a wisdom tooth out which has never come through. It was decaying. She was in the chair an hour and they had problems because it had gone 'mushy' so was difficult to pull out. Also had some bone cut out. ouch!! Anyway she is ok and resting now. Could do with joining her.
Its cold today here and overcast.
Poor hubbies birthday as well and he's spent most of it in the hospital with us. Going to cook us something later and have abottle of wine - then we are all going out for a meal on Saturday - not sure what Nad will have poor thing.  Pam
pixie

It is really lovely here today. The sun is shinning bright with just a little breeze.

I hope Nad soon feels a little less discomfort and that she can eat a little on Saturday.

I also hope the wet beds soon get sorted out. It's a hard time I know because we had it too for many years with all 3.

Still doing well with not smoking. It's hard but not as hard as I thought.........so far.

Have a good rest of the day and evening everyone.
pam

Wet beds are hard work aren't they especially if we are up in the night changing them and then again in the morning.
Keep going with the no smoking Pixie - every day is a bonus. Pam
fairydust

Good evening....love yr poem about wet beds (speeds) hope it cheers pam up.....hard work...although Robbie never wet the bed I can clearly remember getting up at least 8 times a night to sort him out!!

Good morning folks what a lovely sunny day here in derbyshire. It's upstaires day for me today so busy changing bedding. Will catch you all when I have my cuppa later.  Pam
pixie

Good morning to all you lovely people on here.

I am in a really good mood and feeling good too. The sun is shinning and this is day 3 of being a non-smoker.

We're both doing good so far and not too much grumpiness now.

I hope it's nice where you all are and that you have a good day.

Speeds

Congrats to Pixie, so well done
To give up smoking is no fun
But with a little Pixie dust
It seems Pixie's cracked it with little fuss

So what is on this fair fine morn
The sun is shining and so's the lawn
But I must write reports for work
Yes again , I must not shirk

But as I sit here typing away
I do not miss the lovely day
I have a most amazing view
From the window in my room

I'll try and take a pic today
Of what I see while I type away
But now I must carry on and work
So good morning all, I must no longer lurk
Speeds

Just remembered I should add
No wet bed today for our dear lad
We saw the Chiroprator and Osteopath
Who realigned the bit so bad

Apparently a bump on the head
Can cause someone to wet the bed
A bump he had on Wednesday last
And since Friday his bed became a bath

But a little manipulation here and there
Has meant no wet bed for me today to clear
barbsy

morning all. keep up the good work pixie, you should be very proud of yourself.   barbsx
pixie

Good evening to you all.

Glad you had a dry night Speeds. I hope the manipulation will continue to work it's magic.

The pixie dust isn't working quite so well today as the cravings are getting bad. Not given in though and have no intention of giving in.

Said goodbye to my daughter this afternoon as she's off to Spain for 10 days.
I will miss her and worry about her but I expect she will have a great time.

Have a great evening everyone. xx

Hi all......hubby has been doing the back garden today but he has lots to do 2moro and they say were gonna have snow!!! Ho dear!

Hope you all have had a great Good Friday.
pixie

A late good day from me today.

It's been rather yukky today with lots of rain, hail and wind. The wind kept us awake most of the night so we are all a little worn out today.

It's calm now but the forecast is for yet more wind by midnight. It looks like a tireing Easter holiday. I hope the weather is better in Spain for my daughter.

I hope everyone has had a good, Good Friday and that you all have a lovely Easter Break. xx

Still no cigs, 5 days now. It's not too bad so far.
charles47

Hi Pam - no doubt you will get to talk to me - I'm not a regular poster as I'm active elsewhere, but you never know!

Difficult day today - Gill not too good with a really bad migraine. Think it's probably because today is 30th anniversary of the day I first asked her out.

Poor fool said yes - and it just got worse for her from there!
pam

Keep up the good work Pixie - you are doing great!!
Charles - I hopr Gill's migrain has gone now i'm sure it's not to do with the anniversary.    30 years !!! thats really good congratulations.
Hope to spk to you all soon Pam
pixie

A good morning from me.

I hope Gill is feeling better today Charles, migrains are horrible and often make you feel under the weather for several days.

Happy anniversary also Charles to you and Gill.

Thanks for the encouragement Pam, that's what we need to keep us going.

I hope nobody is snowed in today, it's supposed to be bad in places.

Here's to a happy Easter weekend for everyone.
pam

Good morning all a cold and breezy day here. We had snow showers last night but it didn't settle. Got very cold collecting Sam from the station last night - ended up coughing so much (asthma) it made me feel ill    still -  ok now !!
Charles - I hope Gill is feeling better today.
Pixie - another day to get through - but you are doing it!!well done !! occasion5  Pam

Hi all!

Gill's better today, thanks!
pixie

Good morning everyone on this Easter Sunday.

I'm glad to hear Gill is better today Charles.

I hope you are all safe in the bad weather. It's lovely here with bright sunshine and a gentle breeze. It's very cold though with the odd shower now and again.

I hope you all have a great Easter Sunday and don't get poorly eating too much chocolate.

pam

Good morning all. Cold and dull and snow on the ground this morning. We had considered going to the Chrich tramway museum 1940's weekend today -- but doubt if we will now looking outside. Pleased Gills better Charles.

Still clear of the cigs but it is touch and go at the moment, so much going on and it's making it harder to keep off.

Still not had any though so fingers crossed we can keep going.

Sounds like a lovely walk, I must get out and about soon.

Well done for losing so much weight. I was thinking of joining the Tesco diets but not got a round to it yet.

I think packing in the cigs has to come first.

When it comes to diets, or anything else, I am now going with the Boots "change one thing" approach. It's slower but it seems to be having an effect. 8 weeks ago, I "gave up" biscuits - especially dunking ones.

So far, I've only slipped up once. I haven't found it too difficult and I can even buy my favourites and plate them up for clients at work with no difficulty. Couldn't have said that 3 months ago!

Did the same with doughnuts (because of their high fat and sugar content) some years ago, although that was not part of an overall plan, and have just given up iced buns.

4 weeks ago, I introduced more vegetables and fruit into my diet. Even if I don't lose a lot of weight, the changes are easier to make this way and I'm eating more healthily.

A small permanent change helps more than a lot of temporary changes. At least, that's the way I'm working on it.

Wow you were up early.....like the idea of the boots diet I might do this along side SW....with SW tho I feel I can eat so much with such good results.  We have very slight snowflakes here at the moment.

Pixie smoking is so hard to give up I tried 3 times before I eventually stuck to it.....I think Robbie is managing because he keeps thinking about not having any legs!

Got a busy day today, got to visit some family....talk soon...Jennie
