Megan Baker HouseMegan Baker House is the only charity of its type in the UK. It is unique because it offers free Conductive Education (CE) sessions to children with motor disabilities, giving them an opportunity to lead a more independent life.
Megan Baker House was started in 2001 by Megan’s parents. They had found CE to be the most effective method for helping their daughter, who had cerebral palsy, and decided to open a local centre offering free services. A few weeks after opening the centre, Megan sadly died unexpectedly.
After much soul searching, Megan’s parents decided to continue with the work they began in memory of their beautiful daughter. Five years on, well over 100 children attend the centre.
Megan Baker House receives no funding from statutory bodies. The finances required to keep the centre running and offer free Conductive Education sessions come from grants from charitable trusts; community fundraising activities carried out by the children and their families.
We are in the process of developing initiatives to support Megan Baker House and we will soon be launching a payroll giving scheme, fundraising activities, volunteering opportunities and much more!
