If i could get the DLA that me and two of my kids should get,I would also get en extra £88.07 A WEEK on my child tax credits. instead i Have to find the £28.50 (will be £38.50 when i have to pay for my youngest in November) bus fare to get the kids to school out of thin air as i am already living on what the government calls the poverty level.HOW IS THAT FAIR!!!!!Just because my kids have lots of "minor" disorders the powers that be dont seem to understand that this adds up to a MAJOR problem.although quite how a child with hypotonia, hypermobility, autistic spectrum disorder,Chronic Asthma and global development delay ISN'T classed as disabled enough for DLA is beyond me.Same for an uncontrolled epileptic.OR an epileptic child with autistic spectrum disorder, development delay, partial hearing loss, and two faulty heart valves that might need open heart surgery to replace them soon. Apparently none of us is disabled enough.RAAAAAAA!!!!!

It makes me so mad that someone like yourself and your children can't get the financial help you need and are entitled to and some out there milk the system for all they can get.
The system was supposed to have been made easier recently but alas it's just different.
Get some proffesional help with the forms and always appeal if your turned down as many appeals are successful.

Hi Loudmouth -
There has been a lot of research into this, and it all concludes that the system is flawed... but...good news - you can make it work for you if you can get some help.
You do need help with the forms - and its well worth it. Higher rate DLA - plus lower rate mobility - are together worth ...whew - well over £300 a month, and that's tax free. To put that into perspective, its more than the average income of most adults on the planet today.
A typical award lasts for four years. So it's worth putting in some work. Most appeals do succeed, but if you are in any doubt, getting help from a qualified welfare rights professional or children's social worker increases your chances of success by a great deal. good luck... I always take these forms very seriously because there is so much money at stake.

There HAS been a bit of a development...i've been referred to the children with disabilities section of my local social services, but they'll only help me fill the forms in if they think we meet they're VERY strict criteria,so watch this space....
