I'm a full time carer and as such I get carers allowance.
Part of this is made up from Income Support.

Also, as a carer I get free prescriptions (as it should be)

However, when I go to the chemist to get my prescription, I have to "tick the box" to indicate my exemption. Unfortunately, due to the way things work I have no option other than to tick the "In reciept of Income Support"
This kind of implies to the unwary that I am "out of work".

I maybe many things as a full time carer but out of work isnt one of them!

I find it annoying and always point out that I am a carer but have to tick the Income Support box all the same.

Its just one of those things that irritate me. I'm on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, no holidays, no breaks even if I'm ill. Yet I have to tick the box that implies I'm "out of work". angryfire

Its a shame that the powers that be wont add an extra box for carers
