What did you used to do if you were shopping with a baby and you either:

1. Went to the restaurant for something to eat and it was self service and
2. Needed the toilet and the facilities did not allow for you and the baby to get inside a cubicle?

Today I was in M&S with my son and my friends 2 daughters who are 4 and 8 so a handful having a 4, 6 and 8 year old out.

We went in have lunch and as I was going to get a plastic cup there was a lady with a baby in her arms with a huge tray of food. I carried it over to a table for her - there is no way on earth she would have managed.

Then - we did the loo stop and just as we were about to vacate the premises in she comes with baby in tow in a trolley - trying desperately to work out how she could use the loo and not leave the baby outside. I offered to mind him for her which I did while she took care of her need.

I don't totally remember what I used to do but I am pretty sure that I was not in such almost disarray.

What did/do you all do?

I would use the disabled toilets as they have baby changing facilities in them as well as a loo.

Having said that I don't remember having to go while I was out with my first 2 kids (34 & 26) and all those years ago it was safe to leave baby in the pram while you popped in. (I think maybe I could wait longer in those days as well)
These days if they didn't have a big enough loo to take baby in as well I would go somewhere else. It's just not safe to leave a baby outside these days.

Trouble today is that there was a queue for the disabled loo and the baby change facilities are in the gents and ladies - you could get trolleys inside the toilets just not in the actual cubicle.

But I don't think I used to go that much either - hence why I could nto think what I used to do
